Of course, when visiting a country you have to go to the most popular cities. But they are also normally the most touristy and do not give you an authentic view of the country. That is why I am so excited to be writing this Travel Diary entry from a bus that is on the way to Ouarzazate.

Exploring Marrakech

Marrakech was amazing. I am so happy I was able to spend time there, but I am also super excited to see the rest of the country. We have been on this bus for about 3 of the 4 hours and I have already seen some incredible differences in landscape. It is so crazy how it goes from city to desert to an oasis. Who knows what else we will be seeing!

A Town Full of Heritage

One of the stops we made while en route to Ouarzazate was Ait-Ben-Haddou. It is home to one of Morocco’s World Heritage Sites. This is also a town that our tour director said had the least friendly people and most pushy shop owners, and he was not lying. You have to be firm and honestly just ignore them and walk away if they do not leave you alone. It was certainly intimidating, to say the least. With that being said, the town is beautiful, and it is where a lot of scenes for movies and tv shows are filmed. Gladiator and Games of Thrones anyone?! Yes, both of these had scenes filmed here! How cool is that?!

streets in Ouarzazate

Now we have officially made it to our hotel, and there is not much to do in Ouarzazate. So tonight, we will enjoy some swimming and group bonding most likely! Tomorrow we are off to Erfoud which is about a 5-hour drive, but we will be making stops along the way.

Bon Voyage!
