Happy International Women’s Day! This day is looked at as many things by different people, but for me, it is just a day to celebrate being a woman and celebrating what we have already achieved and what else we can achieve in the future! I truly believe that we can do anything we set our mind to, and I want to take today to celebrate some of my favorite women and blogs that are focused on female travel.

Somebody recently told me that “Adventurous is the new pretty”, and this definitely resonated with me. A kickass female who isn’t afraid to explore is awesome in my opinion! I have met a lot of women like this, and I want to dedicate a post to some of those fabulous ladies I’ve met throughout my life, but especially to those I’ve met through starting and growing my blog. I started Bon Voyage with Bri because I wanted to empower women to travel solo, and within the last three years I have traveled to 13 countries and have loved every second of it.

Enough about me though… let’s get to know some fabulous women I have met on my journey or who have just inspired me one way or another. And what better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than recognizing these gals!

Lena, Happily Ever Adventures

When I first started Bon Voyage With Bri, I had a pretty small following, but one of the first accounts that I followed and who followed me back was Happily Ever Adventures. This blog is mainly dedicated to couples – literally anything couple related can be found here, but so can amazing gift guides, book ideas, as well as fashion and beauty advice.

Lena has always inspired me. She is many things; fun loving, a book worm, a crazy hard worker (she has a full-time job and runs the blog!), a dancing queen, an amazing wife, but most of all, she is an adventurer. Even when things were going wrong last year, she kept a really positive attitude and made me realize that life is what you make it. She also has some awesome guides for buying anything from beauty to fashion to home décor.

Kay, The Awkward Traveller

international women's day girl traveler

Where do I start with Kay? She is super funny, really smart, an author, and she started a nonprofit organization this past year! I mean, who does all of that?! Her account was also one of the first that I followed when starting my blog, and I have learned so much from her.

Her Instagram stories are always full of facts about destinations or places that I have never even heard of. I always feel like she is posting something new as well, and it is a constant reminder that I need to get my life together and write more. Not only are her photos really good, but sometimes she will post the “outtakes” on her stories and I love them. Not only does it make you laugh, but it is very refreshing to see someone who doesn’t mind showing you the embarrassing things that happen in real life. Kay is certainly an inspiration to me! Her blog is great, and she is an awesome author whom I hope to see many books from in the future.

Sarah, Adventures with Sarah Supertramp

international women's day

Sarah is a best friend of mine that has always been up for an adventure! She is actually one of the people that inspired me to start a travel blog. I had always had the travel bug, but I saw how adventurous and brave she was when she went to study abroad in college, and that made me realize that I can also travel alone.

We were college roommates which means I could tell some stories… but so could she… so I won’t 😉 Sarah is another badass girl in my book though. Like I said she is adventurous, always looking to go somewhere new, always loving the outdoors, and she is so smart! I just couldn’t leave her out of my post celebrating women. I cannot wait to see what else she does in life. While she doesn’t have a travel blog, you can follow her on Instagram which will show you all of her awesome adventures.

Desirae Jae, Rags to Witches

international women's day

Desirae is one of the best and longest friendships I have had. We have known each other for like 20 years… which is crazy because that is almost my entire life! Dezz has always been the life of the party, and she is crazy talented. Not only does she dance, and sing, she also has her own business making super cute, yet spooky dolls. I am proud to say that my doll is one of the original ones, a custom-made Cinderella doll that I still keep on my desk to this day.

While I didn’t meet Desirae through my blog or travel adventures, anytime I am with her it is an adventure, so I thought she deserved a mention in my blog celebrating women. Both she and her family mean the world to me, and she is definitely one of those friends that we just pick right up from wherever we ended last time no matter how long it has been.
*If you are wanting to order a doll from her, she is taking a little break due to an accident but will announce when she is back up and running again! *

All of the Women I’ve Have Met While Traveling

international women's day

I have been so lucky to meet some amazing people, both men, and women while traveling, but today is International Women’s Day so we will focus on the women! When I was in China, I met a girl from Italy named Sophia, and a girl from Sweden named Julia. We explored Beijing together and had a wonderful time. In Iceland, I met one of my best travel buddies, Kyra. We went to Scotland and Croatia together, and are still planning more trips. In Croatia, I met Ally, Kaitlyn, and Emily, and we had one of the best dinners I think I will ever have in my life. Now, Kaitlyn and I will be headed to Morocco in September together.

There are so many others that I have met along the way that aren’t mentioned, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t important. Each of these women has had an impact on me in one way or another, and I am so grateful. Without fellow travelers, my adventures just wouldn’t be as fun!

Now that I have shown you some of the people that have a more personal relationship to me, let’s look at some blogs that are all about female travel! These blogs are all ones that I go to and follow regularly. There are some blogs that focus only on solo female travel, while others focus on anything having to do with female travel.

The Blonde Abroad

One of the first travel blogs I came across. Kiki has given me some amazing photos, and I am inspired by the growth of her business. I can only hope to be 1/10th of the blogger she is one day.

Women Who Explore

international women's day

Women Who Explore is a blog that was started by two sisters to have a community where women could explore outdoors together. They have local groups for women to get together, and go for hikes or set up photo shoots, etc. They have really helped me get out of my own comfort zone and I couldn’t be happier.

My Blog Abroad

Glo is a seriously fun and sassy travel blogger. I love reading her posts because she isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and she writes about things that you wouldn’t see on other websites. Her photos are also amazing!

The Pink Backpack

The Pink Backpack is run by Steph. I feel like she has also been everywhere… I mean 50 countries is crazy! The great thing about her blog is that while she has some great articles with travel tips and destinations, she also has very helpful ones about starting your own blog.
